Associate Attorney

Martson Law Offices is looking for an associate attorney for its Carlisle, Pennsylvania office.   A candidate with general practice experience in a private practice setting is preferred, though such experience is not required.

Responsibilities of the position include:

• performing legal research
• drafting legal documents
• making court appearances
• handling transactional negotiations
• actively participating in the representation of firm clients across the firm’s practice areas.

Compensation will depend upon experience.  The primary work location for this position is in-person at our office in Carlisle, Pennsylvania.  The ideal candidate is an ambitious and versatile attorney licensed in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania looking to contribute to a growing legal team.

Office Manager

Martson Law Offices is looking for a motivated Office Manager for its main office in Carlisle, PA. Candidates must be reliable and able to problem-solve with solid organizational skills. Interested candidates must be able to work constructively and communicate well with diverse personality types as well as be able to balance multiple projects simultaneously requiring minimal direction.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Coordinate marketing efforts.
• Oversee supply orders and office purchases. Reconcile monthly purchases.
• Coordinate office events.
• Schedule subcontractors, ensure proper documentation of all 1099 contractors.
• Provide administrative support to the firm.
• Maintain personnel records.
• Coordinate recruiting, interviewing, and onboarding efforts.
• Conduct new hire orientation.
• Perform routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource functions including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters, disputes, and investigations; recognition and morale; and training and development.
• Attend and participate in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
• Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommend best practices, review policies to maintain compliance.
• Maintain knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
• Assist with development and improvement in functionality of the office spaces and communications systems.
• Assist with IT-related support

Qualifications and Skills

• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Excellent time management skills
• Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate
• Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality
• Ability to quickly learn the organizational HRIS
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
• Previous administrative or office management experience is a plus.
• Previous human resource generalist experience is a plus.
• Light bookkeeping experience is required.

Compensation will depend upon experience.

Real Estate Paralegal

Martson Law Offices is seeking a real estate paralegal to join its expanding residential and commercial real estate department.  The individual in this position assists the supervising attorney with all aspects of real estate transactions from contract to closing, and is responsible for initiating and driving the progression towards settlement.  Experience is preferred, but not required.

Essential functions include:

• Handling client communications such as follow-ups on scheduling, information and transaction updates
• Review of residential contracts and preparation of correspondence and settlement documents
• Interacting and communicating with clients, opposing parties, title companies, and other involved parties on the status of transactions, deadlines, etc.
• Maintaining a spreadsheet with detailed ongoing status of transactions including date of receipt of deposit funds, date of entry of applicable court orders, and closing dates
• Providing general administrative assistance to the supervising attorney.

Strong organizational skills are required.  Must be able to work under strict deadlines and be able to prioritize assignments.
